Accessing Services – Social Services

Summary – 86% told us that they did not use social services, with many people telling us that they felt social services had a lack of Deaf awareness with participants still being asked to contact them by phone. People who commented on this told us that they felt authorities were making cuts to social care services without any consideration given to how they would meet the needs of Deaf people. If people did use Social Services the most popular way to communicate with them was through a qualified interpreter.
