Background

At our residential home in Lancashire we offer a home for profoundly deaf adults from all over the country; many are elderly and all of them have additional needs such as mental health problems or learning difficulties. For some, we offer a home for life for others the aim is that they will progress to independent living.
We want to offer our residents as broad a range of experience as possible and to this end we facilitate the teaching and practise of life skills. Activities are an essential part of the therapeutic rehabilitation of our residents and our activities co-ordinator has put together an extensive programme which will enrich the lives of the people living in our residential care.

We go further than this:

We feel that our residents should have the opportunity to live as rich and fulfilled a life as possible. Because of this passionate belief we now offer our residents the chance to take part in a range of activities which, as residents of a care home, they would not normally be able to experience. These activities enrich the lives of our residents and have achieved startling results in the mental health and general wellbeing of all those who take part.

What next?

These activities are so popular that we naturally want to continue and, if possible, extend the programme. We have already had to employ more staff to cope with demand. You can make a real a dramatic difference to the lives of our residents.

Can you give our residents 'the thrill of a lifetime'?
